This course “Milieux Poreux et Dispersés” is intended for second-year students of the academic Master in Materials Process Engineering (3rd semester), to acquire the basic concepts of Porous and Dispersed Media.

This module aims to provide students with a deep understanding of the fundamental principles governing porous and dispersed media, as well as their applications in industrial processes. Students will learn to analyze the granulometry of materials, master the principles of grinding, screening, fragmentation, and cracking to optimize size reduction, and model fluid flow through porous media using theoretical models to predict pressure drop. They will also study processes such as filtration, sedimentation, and fluidization, while developing skills in designing separation equipment. Additionally, special attention will be given to dispersions, particularly the stability of dispersed systems and the mechanisms influencing their behavior, incorporating aspects of rheology.
